2011 MTV VMAS : Brian May joins Lady Gaga

lady-gaga-vmas-2011-mtv.jpgLady Gaga was conspicuously absent from the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet - we've gotten so used to waiting to see her crazy outfits, like the meat dress or the egg. But it turns out it's because she was busy being in drag for her opening number.

The performance started with Gaga dressed as a man and giving a soliloquy about Lady Gaga being crazy and "who she is" as if she were this man talking about his ex-girlfriend. She then took to the piano for "You and I," which is a great song. But we'd almost fallen asleep during her spoken-word part.

Once the actual song started, it got very awesome, especially when Gaga was joined onstage by Queen guitarist Brian May. Was she channeling Billy Joel? That's a bit what it seemed like. Video below in case you missed it.
